1) RE-pipe well2 into Temporary tank 2 (Run Well 1 during this time) DONE!!

2) Completely drain storage tank

2) Demo roof

3) Build new roof

4) Clean storage tank and put back in service.

5) Fill storage tank, let it sit for 2 days with chlorine and negative Bacti samples.

6) Run on Well #1 when we re-pipe to put plumbing back to normal.

Friday morning, April 12th at 10am to about Friday, April 26th

As many of you may know, the water tank roof over our community water supply is about 70 years old. The board has been working hard on plans to replace it and we are finally nearing the point of the new installation. This new roof will ensure a safe and sanitary water supply for all of us here in the Belmont Terrace, and will last for many many years to come.

We have had to coordinate with four contractors for the final installation and it has become a very involved process which requires we all pitch in to make it go smoothly.

During the construction, we will be on a backup tank that only holds 5,000 gallons, compared to our main tank that holds 38,000 gallons. Obviously, this impacts the availability of water for all of us. The demo of the old roof and the installation of the new roof should take between a week and two weeks. During that time we ask that everyone in the Terrace restrict their water usage to inside the house only. NO outside watering should occur during the demo and installation and ALL outside automatic systems should be turned off as well. No one wants to turn on the tap have have nothing come out, and this conservation will help prevent that.

The installation is set up to start on Friday, the 12th of April.

Please be prepared. Some ideas for water saving that can be used both indoors and for outside watering (only if needed):

Fill garbage cans or other containers with water now and hand water new plants with that.
Fill bathtub when the final date is set and use for toilet flushing. We did this during the worst of the drought and it works great.
Use 5 gal bucket to collect water while shower is heating up and use to flush toilets or outside for watering of new plants.

If anyone has any other ideas on how to collect water now before conservation measures are needed, please let us know and we will share them with your neighbors!

We are all owners of the Belmont Terrace Water System and its maintenance allows us to remain in control of our water. Remember, this is for the benefit of our entire community and your help is greatly appreciated.

Weather postpones water flush until March 19th. If there are heavy rains again it will be March 26th.

We needed to take down the whole system to replace a curb-stop valve on Dorthel Street.

Unfortunately, this means that we are on the Boil Water Notice which was extended by the state for 2 more days. We took a sample right after the shut down. We will be taking another sample tomorrow, Tuesday November 22. We hope that both samples will be negative and we will be up and running sometime Wednesday afternoon.

We are now running on Well#2 with our normal water supply.

The tank levels are now like we have flushed the system.

BOIL WATER notice is STILL in effect until you get an all clear message. We will email the all clear message out (if you are on Jean’s list**) AND a paper copy will be delivered to every house in the Terrace when the Boil Water notice is lifted. We are expecting to be all clear by Wednesday, November 23rd. Just in time for Thanksgiving.

OTHER ITEMS:
1) Outdoor water should be off or running at 1/4 to 1/3 the amount of time that you do in the summer months

2) Continue to conserve water when possible. Drought will not be done until we have 2 consecutive years of normal rainfall.

Another big day. Finish setting up Well#2 – Getting ready to fill tank.

In order to fill the tank and test the rest of the delivery system the water will be shut off to the distribution system today for a short period, approximately 1 hour (not sure exactly when that will be). Then, just as when the system is flushed, everyone needs to conserve water so the tank doesn’t run dry.

A message will be sent out when all is back up.

11/18/22 – big day. Pulled the motor & pump out of Well#2. I will add the video later. Our well is 250 feet deep the pipe sections are 20′ They repeated the process 12 times to pull the pump & motor out. They reversed the process to put it back in. Mike & Ben were great.

We have a second service leak on Bella Vista Drive.

If you detect a new leak please let us know. (even if you are not the customer, sometimes they don’t know).

Do not attempt to shut off water at the curb. Let an operator do it.

Service leak on Dorthel required to shut down of the system. It appears that the isolation of the street did not happen. Apologies to all affected.
